Immediately before he was stoned, Stephen preached the Gospel of Christ. After he had finished speaking, we see Stephen – about to be stoned – facing death as a man full of the Holy Spirit, a man looking to Jesus Christ – “Now when they heard these things they were enraged and they ground their teeth against him. But he, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God” (Acts 7:54-55). From Stephen, we learn this. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we look away from ourselves to the Lord Jesus Christ. Looking to Christ, we catch a glimpse of the glory of God. Our lives are filled with the glory of the Lord.
