You Raise Me Up …

“Your eyes are too pure to look on evil” (Habakkuk 1:13).

The contrast between our sinfulness and God’s holiness is an absolute contrast – never the two shall meet.

Can we raise ourselves up from our sinfulness to God’s holiness? – No! We cannot. We need to be raised up from above, by the Lord. We cannot do it for ourselves. He must do it for us. Salvation doesn’t come from ourselves. It comes from Him. He gives it to us.

The gift of forgiveness comes to us through Jesus Christ who took our sin upon Himself so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21).

“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” (2 Corinthians 9:15).

That is a beautiful thought of Jesus! It reminds me of our 4 little grandkids, and 2 great-grandkids. Every time I am with them, I get in the floor with them, or I am lifting them up in my lap or in my arms. I also get out in their backyard with the 2 1/2 year and 4 year old, and down on my knees next to their easel, I am teaching them to paint. “Pop,” {my husband of 53 years, this month, we celebrated it with a whole month of traveling from place to place.) told me that our daughter when she watches me with the kids in the backyard, will say “Oh, how sweet.”
