“O that you would tear open the heavens and come down … ” (Isaiah 64:1).

We read, in the Scriptures, of times when God was powerfully present among his people – but we, also, read of times when his people wondered, “Where is God in all of this that’s happening to us?” What are we to say about this? There are times when it seems like the sunshine of God’s love isn’t shining upon us. When we feel like this, we need to be reminded that, behind the dark clouds, there is the sun, waiting to shine upon us again. We see the clouds, but we don’t see the sun. We see what’s happening to us, but we don’t see God in it. What are we to do? Let’s pray, “Open our eyes, Lord. Show us that you are there with us and for us.
