“My eyes and My heart will always be there (in the place where God’s people gather together to worship Him)” (2 Chronicles 7:16).
Before the worshippers gather, the Lord is there. He’s waiting for us. He’s calling us to come to Him. Before our ears hear the words, “Let us worship God”, the Lord is speaking to our hearts. He’s opening His heart to us. He’s telling us that He loves us – and He wants us to come to Him with a song of praise in our hearts and on our lips. Before we begin to sing our song of praise to Him, the Lord is putting the song of praise into our hearts. Before we speak any words of prayer, He’s creating in us the desire to speak to Him. Where does the song of praise come from? Where does the word of prayer come from? They come from the Lord. The spirit of praise comes from Him. The word of prayer comes from Him. In our worship, we never take the initiative. Our faith can never be any more than a response to His grace. He comes to us, in grace, before we come to Him in faith.
