Two false ways of thinking …

The first false way of thinking says, “What will be, will be. What’s for you won’t go past you.”

People who think like this tend to sit back and let things happen.

The Apostle Paul was very different. This is what he said, “I run straight toward the goal in order to win the prize, which is God’s call through Christ Jesus to the life above” (Philippians 3:14).

What a difference there is between the two – sitting back and running forward!

The second false way of thinking says, “I’m looking after No. 1. I did it my way.”

People who think like this have turned away from God. They would never think of putting the Lord first. They would never think of doing things his way.

What does Jesus say to us about this way of thinking? He says, “Seek first God’s kingdom and his righteousness” Matthew 6:33). He teaches us to pray, “Your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:1)).

What a difference there is between trying to get our own way and walking in the way of the Lord, doing our own thing and doing the will of the Lord!
