Salvation comes before service.

We do not begin with the question, “What are we to do for God?” We begin with the question, “What has God done for us?” Grateful to the Lord for all that he has done for us, we give ourselves to him, committing ourselves to a life of serving him. Here, we highlight the vital connection between salvation and service. We do not begin with the prayer, “Here am I, Send me.” We begin with prayer, “Here am I. Save me.” God speaks to us his word of forgiveness before he extends to us his call to service (Isaiah 6:7-8).
