2 John, 3 John, Jude

These are short letters. Each of them has only one chapter. They present to us a call to faithfulness in the face of departure from Gospel truth.

2 John: “There are many deceivers about in the world, refusing to admit that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. They are the deceiver: they are the antichrist. Watch yourselves, or all our work will be lost… .”

3 John: Here, there is a contrast between two men: Diotrephes and Demetrius. Concerning Diotrephes, God’s Word says, “Never follow such a bad example. but keep following the good one.” Concerning Demetrius, God’s Word says, “Demetrius has been approved by everyone, and indeed by the truth itself.”

Jude: “Fight hard for the faith.” Jude ends with a great doxology: “Glory be to Him who can keep you from falling and bring you safe to His glorious presence.”
