The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice … Rejoice in the Lord, you who are righteous, and praise his holy name” (Psalm 97:1,12).
Psalm 97 begins and ends with joy – rejoicing in the Lord. True joy comes to us from the Lord. We think of who God is – the King of love. We think of all that God has done for us – “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son … ” (John 3:16). As we thank God for the gift of his Son, Jesus, we think of what Jesus has done for us – “the Son of God loved me and gave himself for me”, we think of what he continues to do for us – “it is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me” (Galatians 2:20), and we think of what Jesus will do for us – “I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am” (John 14:3). Think of the Lord – and let his joy fill your heart.
