Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding (Jeremiah 3:15).
You will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:13).
The Word of God is preached to us by his faithful servants. They study the Word of the Lord. They pray that the power of the Holy Spirit will come upon them, giving them clear understanding of God’s Word. They pray that the Holy Spirit will flow through them, as they bring the Word of the Lord to those who will listen to their preaching. They pray that the Holy Spirit will create, in the hearts of those who listen to their preaching, a real desire to seek and find the Lord. What are we to say about the faithful preaching of God’s Word, and what are we to say about a faithful response to God’s Word? Is our preaching of God’s Word ever all that it should be, and is our response to God’s Word ever all that it should be? No! We’re not perfect. We’re sinners. There is, however, somethings else that must always be said. We’re sinners, saved by grace. It’s by grace that the Word of God is brought to us by the preachers. It’s by grace that there is created in our hearts a strong desire to seek the Lord and a strong desire to find him.
