When we witness for our Lord

In your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3:15).

It’s not about how important we are. It’s about how wonderful Jesus is. We are to let his light shine. We are to give all the glory. We are to speak with both courage and humility, following the example of the Apostle Paul, who who spoke with courage – “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16) – and humility – “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners – of whom I am the worst16 … I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life” (1 Timothy 1:15-16).

With courage, we face the world in the name and power of Christ. With humility, we acknowledge that all that we have to say has been given to us by the Lord. The message that we pass on to the world is not our own. It is the Lord’s – “What we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord” (2 Corinthians 4:5).
