Learning from Romans (7): Grace and glory

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us (Romans 5:1-5).

Here, Paul speaks to us about grace, “we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand”, and he speaks to us, also, about glory, “we boast in the hope of the glory of God,”

We stand in the grace of God, and we look forward to the glory of God.

When, in today’s world, there are so many things happening that could lead us to fall away from the Lord, how are we to keep on standing? We stand in God’s grace.

When there are so many things happening that could lead us to feel that our situation is completely hopeless, how are we to live in a world that faces an uncertain future? By his grace, God is leading us on to his glory.

Grace and glory: we need to hear more about God’s grace and God’s glory. In our present situation, let us stand in the grace of God, and, when things are getting us down, may we, strengthened by the Lord’s grace, lift up our eyes and catch a glimpse of the glory of God.
